How many weddings have you photographed?
We have now passed the 200 wedding mark, as of last year! 2016 marks our 9th season in the wedding photography industry, and we feel so blessed to have been a part of so many wedding celebrations... and look forward to so many more!
How do you approach the wedding day?
We have so much fun! As sisters, we ride to the venue together and review all of our notes, custom shot list, and any other special points about your big day as we drive. When we arrive at your venue, we get right to work photographing details and candids, chatting with and getting to know your bridal party. We're very friendly, yet efficient, and happily guide our couple, bridal party, and the families through all formal photos at a fast and fun pace. Once we've accomplished all formal photos on the shot list, we excitedly capture candid images and detail shots for the remainder of our time with you.
How many weddings will you shoot on a given date?
ONE. Just one. We want to be able to focus our time and attention solely on one couple at a time. We want to immerse ourselves in your wedding day and get caught up in the moment, just as you do!
Do you shoot natural light, artificial light, or both?
Both! Although we predominantly use natural light, we always bring lighting equipment along to weddings, and will happily use it in situations where it is needed.
Do you back up your image files? Do you have back up equipment, in case yours would fail?
YES and YES! Backing up image files is very important to us, and we always keep multiple copies of your images in multiple locations. We also carry back-up cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment with us to all weddings. We plan for the best, but prepare for the worst!
What will you wear to our wedding?
We always dress in professional attire, often in black. It is important to us to blend in with all of your beautifully dressed wedding guests, while still retaining the ability to move and shoot with ease.
I love the relaxed feel of your photos! How do you capture such genuine expressions?
This is a very important question! You want to feel relaxed in front of the camera so that you show more authentic emotions in your photos. One way we promote this is by including a complimentary engagement session in our wedding collections. This gives us all an opportunity to get to know each other before the wedding day, continue building that relationship, and allow you, as a couple, to become comfortable in front of the camera. We're also just a bit silly in general, which seems to put our clients at ease! We strive to create a light-hearted, fun atmosphere at all of our sessions and weddings. And, of course, it's always important to have a well-planned timeline, allowing plenty of time for photos so that you don't feel stressed.
Is there a mileage fee for traveling to weddings?
We do not charge a mileage fee for weddings taking place within a 30 mile radius of Foley, MN. With that, 60 total miles are included in the cost of the wedding collection. Beyond that distance, there is a $1.00 per mile charge. Weddings occurring more than 150 miles from the Foley area may also require lodging.
I have a lot of downtime between events on my wedding day. Can we split up the coverage hours?
The fact is, we are never truly resting during the day, whether we are backing up images, setting up for other shots, traveling to a second location, taking venue shots, or making up for lost photo time because of wedding day delays. In many cases, we use that "downtime" to take you and your significant other out for a photo session or more family portraits. For these reasons, collection hours are consecutive coverage hours. If you have questions about timeline, we are more than happy to help you set a timeline for the day that will keep everything running smoothly and will make the most of your coverage hours! We have a lot of experience with this!
What if we go beyond our contracted hours of time?
We understand that not everything goes as planned during a wedding. We never pack up before the contracted time; and moreover we will not leave "on the dot" when the contracted time is up. Instead, we will ask you at the end of your contracted time whether or not you would like to extend. If you would like us to stay, we will charge the rates specified in your contract, rounded to the closest 30 minute increment.
What would you like to eat for dinner?
We are so grateful to be included in dinner plans! As one might imagine, it gets to be a very long day if we don't have an opportunity to eat. For this reason, we do require a meal for each photographer for any 6+ hour collection that falls over dinner.
When can we expect to receive our photos?
We deliver digital files within 4-6 weeks of your wedding date!
How many images can we expect to receive?
Approximately 75-100 images per hour of coverage. After the wedding, we cull through everything we shot and choose the images that best represent your day, including all important family members, moments, and details. We leave out less attractive moments (blinking, strange facial expressions, etc) as they detract from the overall appearance of the gallery.
Do you do destination weddings? What additional fees are associated with destination weddings?
While Laura Leigh Images is based out of central Minnesota, we happily serve clients all around the world! Our destination wedding photography packages are simply our standard collections plus the cost of travel and reasonable accommodations. Email LLImages@hotmail.com for details.
We want you to photograph our wedding! What is the first step in the booking process?
Shoot us an email! We love to sit down with all of our couples and have a meeting to discuss the big day. In order to reserve your wedding date with LLI, a contract will be signed by both parties and 20% of your collection price is due at the time of the contract signing.
What is your favorite part of a wedding day?
Kristyn: The first look!
Laura: The ceremony!
... Both are emotional points in the day. We absolutely love to witness (and capture!) such special moments!
